The main purpose of Public Works is the routine and emergency maintenance of the road system in the county. The largest division in the county's organization, Public Works encompasses Fleet Management, Storm water management, Utilities Coordination, Solid Waste, Right of Way, Bridges, Reclamation and Stabilization, North Walton Mosquito Control, Clearing, Facility Maintenance,

Citizen Services is an “umbrella” division that provides interface and coordination between the Board of County Commissioners and the following departments: Library, Section 8/HUD, S.H.I.P. Housing Partnership, Veterans Services, Probation, Health Department, Extension Services, and the Soil Conservation District staff to provide a wide variety of services to Walton County residents and visitors.

The Emergency Response Division provides the capability to support the continuity of government. To coordinate emergency response to severe weather, disasters, medical emergencies, fires, rescues, animal control, and hazardous materials situations. Provides addressing for new and updated locations to be entered into the emergency 911 system. Provides teams to map out those addresses to ensure they are entered into the 911 system as accurately as
possible.
The division develops plans, standard operating procedures, protocols, and policies to support emergency operations. The Finance Division seeks to serve the best interests of the citizens and taxpayers of Walton County: to prepare and submit budgets that are timely and
responsive; to obtain goods and services that achieve the proper blend of quality and price; to research and secure alternative funding sources (where available) for projects of significance to Walton County; to provide quality communications systems that keep pace with technological improvements; to monitor contracts and agreements entered into by the County to ensure that special provisions are met, renewal is timely, and that appropriate financing is available; and, to professionally

The Walton County Parks and Recreation Department strives to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Walton County. Citizen’s needs are met through the implementation and maintenance of health-promoting programs and activities. Broadly, the department’s programs are intended to increase physical activity in an environment that promotes integrity and strong
overall character. Parks and Recreation also maintains various public facilities that are designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and provide recreational outlets for every Walton County family. The
Planning & Development Division interprets, administers and enforces the Walton County Comprehensive Plan, the Walton County Land Development Code, the Florida Unified Building Code, and other related codes and ordinances.
The Division coordinates and provides staff support to the Planning Commission, the Design Review Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustments, the Code Enforcement Board, the Contractors Competency Board, the Coastal Dunes Lakes Advisory Board, the Impact Fee Task Force
